At Wearable Wood Galway we make contemporary handcrafted wooden pieces inspired by Irish heritage, natural materials, and everyday living. Working from our studio on the west coast of Ireland, we design and craft wooden jewellery, functional pieces, and one-of-a-kind artworks using a blend of woodturning, craftwork, digital processes, and hand finishing.
Irish language engravings and cultural references are etched into the grain, bringing cúpla focal gaeilge and a sense of dúchas to blend seamlessly into contemporary life.
We use wood from various sources,and love to include Irish timber shaped by time and rugged weather, fallen trees given a second life, and olive wood from sustainable sources in warmer climates.
Our collections blend natural materials, contemporary design, and Irish culture to create pieces shaped by Irish language and characteristics uncovered in the wood itself.
From Galway Bay
to Áras an Uchtaráin
What an honour to present a piece of our work to President Catherine Connolly at Áras an Uchtaráin recently.
This unique artwork is grounded in Galway's maratime past. Salvaged timber from the Loveen, (a 100 year old Galway Hooker boat) restoration project, and piece of new wood-turned Irish beech symbolises the connection between past and present in a contemporary form.
"I bought a charcuterie board from Tom & Annette over a year ago. I use it all the time, and it looks as good as when I bought it. The Irish seanfocail is a great conversation starter."
