Special Presentations
We recently crafted a special presentation piece that was given to the President of Ireland. This unique item was made from a 100-year-old piece of oak salvaged from a boat restoration project, beautifully merged with new Irish birch and ash wood, symbolising heritage and new beginnings.
Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine
This handcrafted wood-turned piece is inspired by the Irish saying, "Is ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine", which translates as "It is in the shelter of one another that people survive."
The saying reflects the Irish tradition of meitheal, where neighbours came together to help one another with tasks like saving turf in the bog, building a shed, or cutting silage. It celebrates the strength of community and the belief that by working together and supporting one another, we all thrive.
Crafted from Beech and Walnut, this piece is more than just a decorative object. It is a reminder of connection, generosity, and the shared spirit that has sustained communities for generations.
"Cuisle Mo Chroi"
Another cherished custom piece is made from Irish spalted beech and walnut, engraved with the words 'Cuisle Mo Chroi', meaning 'Pulse of my Heart', using an old Irish script typeface.
This piece beautifully marries natural characteristics of the spalted wood with a beautiful Irish phrase.
Loveen - a legacy from our maritime history
Salvaged material from the restoration of 'Loveen' a traditional Galway sailing boat, which is over 100 years old. These pieces, incorproating the iconic shape of the Galway Hooker sails, were crafted using old oak from the original boat and pieces of new wood used in the restoration.
